Farmer's Market Flowers - Dahlias

I'm in love.  Staring at these luscious, pink petals reminds me of my spring love affair with peonies.

Usually, I regret it when I let the sad-faced farmer man up-sell me and talk me into two bouquets when I stroll up to the counter with only one. Not this time. I've had vases of dahlias in every room for the last week, and they make me smile every time I pass them.

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. ~Chinese Proverb

I had a couple extra pennies, so I bought sushi and peonies instead, but I wholeheartedly concur with the sentiment.

I seriously can't get enough of these peonies. They are so soft and fluffy and lovely; I wish I could take a nap in them.

Pampered

Tom and I received a spa gift card as a belated wedding gift last fall, and even after a couple's massage there was a remaining balance that the husband was generous enough to donate to my foot pampering needs. Now this was no Beautiful Nail 15 minute job... I had my own room and a fully reclining lounger in which to continue plugging away at Pride and Prejudice. It was a blissful hour during which I completely forgot about my impending joblessness and the irony of the "Your the best teacher ever" note that I received from my student the other day.

Well done, Trader Joe's, well done.
