Happy Independence Day from the Green Mountain State

On Sunday morning, we left the palm trees and ocean breezes behind and hopped a plane to Vermont. It's been almost three years since I've laid eyes on the lush landscape of a Vermont summer. A few years in the Southern California desert have given me a new appreciation for the thousand shades of green that blanket Vermont.

A rainbow welcomed us just before touchdown.

From the airport, we went straight to the 'Jammer for dinner where I finally got to meet my sister-in-law-to-be's lovely family. After the feast, we were off to the waterfront to watch the fireworks. For some reason, the town of Burlington always has their fireworks display on July 3rd...

The Independence Day festivities continued on the actual holiday with a barbecue at Erin's house and more fireworks.

Family, friends, food, and fireworks - what more can you ask for on the Fourth?
